Register to Attend SJTech

Welcome to San Jacinto Technology Institute (SJTI)!

We are a K–8 public school offering two flexible learning models: Virtual Learning and Independent Study.

Program Options

Virtual Learning (Grades K–8):
This is a structured, course-based program with daily live instruction from teachers, following a set bell schedule.

  • Grades K–5: Students are assigned one teacher for all core academic subjects. Optional in-person enrichment labs are offered and scheduled by the teacher.

  • Grades 6–8: Students follow a six-period block schedule with multiple subject-specific teachers.

    • Enrichment Labs are held every Friday during 7th and 8th periods and are offered in a hybrid format—in-person attendance is optional except on quarter-change Fridays, when labs are virtual only.

    • An on-campus Internet Café is available for students in grades 6-8 on Fridays before Enrichment Lab, for those needing early drop-off or extra help with assignments.

Independent Study Program (ISP, Grades 2–8):
ISP is ideal for self-directed, independent learners who can manage their time and studies without daily live instruction.

  • Grades 2–3: Students must log in daily for one hour of core instruction with a teacher. The remaining coursework is completed independently.

  • Grades 4–8: Students work independently at their own pace with regular check-ins and support as needed.

  • Attendance Requirement: All ISP students must complete a minimum of 4 hours of academic work each day to maintain attendance and enrollment in the program.

Enrollment & Orientation Requirements

1. Enrollment Process
If you have not yet enrolled through the District, please complete the full enrollment process before booking an orientation appointment.

2. Special Education (IEP) Students
If your student has an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan), contact the case carrier at their current school prior to scheduling orientation. The case carrier will need to initiate a "Change of Placement" meeting before we can proceed with enrollment.

3. Mandatory In-Person Orientation
All students transferring to SJTI are required to attend an in-person orientation appointment with a parent or guardian.
Here’s what to expect:

  • Both the student and parent/guardian must attend.

  • Parent/guardian must bring a photo ID.

  • Student should bring any textbooks, workbooks, and/or Chromebook (if available).

  • During the 30-minute appointment:

    • We’ll review program options and expectations.

    • You’ll receive the student’s bell schedule.

    • Both parent and student will sign a contract agreeing to program terms.

  • In most cases, the student may begin school the next business day after orientation.

Additional Information

  • Orientation meetings are held on-campus by appointment only.

  • Students must complete orientation and sign a contract before starting school.

  • After orientation, we will work with your student’s current school to ensure a smooth transfer. Typically, no further action is needed on your part.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming your family to SJTI!
